FP EN ALZA
At Gestamp Foundation, we firmly believe in the importance of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and its key role within the education system and the labor market in Spain. With the aim of improving the perception of VET nd breaking the social stigmas associated with this educational modality, the Foundation, together with FAD Youth is launching the FP en Alza project.
Vocational Training is increasingly valued by Spanish youth. According to the study “Youth Perception of Vocational Training in Spain”, carried out by the Queen Sofia Center of FAD Youth in collaboration with Gestamp Foundation, 59% of young people consider Vocational Training fundamental to access the labor market due to its high employability. In addition, 7 out of 10 rate Vocational Training positively, highlighting its ability to specialize and learn a trade quickly. However, despite these advances, VET in Spain is still below the European average. In 2022, only 39.2% of Spanish secondary school students were enrolled in VET, compared to 49% in Europe, highlighting the need to promote it more widely.
The FP en Alza project aims to raise awareness among young people and their families about the educational and professional opportunities offered by VET, highlighting its potential to improve jobprospects for young people. To this end, the project is structured in two phases: first, a sociological research is carried out to analyze the perceptions and expectations of young people about VET. Next, and awareness campaign is carried out through social networks and the media, aimed at disseminating the benefits of Vocational Training and dismantling existing prejudices about it.
With FP en Alza, Gestamp Foundation and FAD Youth seek to promote VET as a valuable educational option and a direct route to employment in key sectors.
