The ASTI Foundation has presented Gestamp Foundation with the STEM Impact in Rural Areas Award for its role in developing the RuralBOTic project—an initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide and promoting technological vocations in rural areas from an early age.
The project culminated in an event held in Rabé de las Calzadas (Burgos), bringing together over 200 primary school students and 14 teachers for a day of robotics challenges, collaborative learning, and community engagement.
Throughout the school year, participating students worked with robotics kits in the classroom and applied their knowledge during the final event in Rabé de las Calzadas. They also had the opportunity to visit the Edscha Burgos plant to see firsthand how these technologies are applied in a real industrial environment.
Mónica Riberas, General Director of Gestamp Foundation, emphasized the significance of receiving this recognition in an area with deep ties to the organization: “Implementing this initiative in rural communities—particularly in Rabé de las Calzadas—reinforces our commitment to the places that shaped our origins, and where we believe education can truly serve as a driver of opportunity.”
This recognition highlights Gestamp Foundation’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, inclusive, and innovative education tailored to the challenges of the 21st century.
