Gestamp Foundation and ASTI Foundation bring together over 200 elementary school children for the final of RuralBOTic, an educational robotics initiative
RuralBOTic by Gestamp Foundation is a joint initiative of ASTI Foundation and Gestamp Foundation aimed at bringing robotics and programming to rural areas, reducing the digital divide from an early age.
Throughout the school year, students worked with robotic kits in the classroom and visited the Edscha Burgos facilites, where they learned how these technologies are applied in an industrial setting.

Over 200 elementary school children gathered today in Rabé de las Calzadas (Burgos) to take part in the final event of RuralBOTic by Gestamp Foundation, an educational robotics program developed by ASTI Foundation in collaboration with Gestamp Foundation. This initiative aims to bring technology and programming to rural areas in the province of Burgos, helping to ensure equal opportunities in access to digital education.
During the final challenge held in Rabé de las Calzadas, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students took part in various robotics trials, showcasing what they had learned throughout the school year in a day of learning and collaboration.
Throughout the academic year, 225 students and 14 teachers from Petra Lafont School (Tardajos), Saturnino Calleja School (Quintadueñas), Fray Enrique López School (Villadiego), Fuentes Blancas School (Burgos), and CRA Diego Marín (Peñaranda de Duero) worked in the classroom with robotics kits, learning to solve challenges collaboratively.
As part of the program, students also visited the Edscha plant in Burgos, where they had the opportunity to see firsthand how robotics and programming are used in the industrial processes of an automotive manufacturing facility.
The event opened with welcome remarks from Diego Rodríguez, Mayor of Rabé de las Calzadas, and Mónica Riberas, General Director of Gestamp Foundation, who emphasized the special significance of hosting this edition’s final challenge in this town—birthplace of Francisco Riberas Pampliega, founder of the Gestamp Group.
“Francisco Riberas Pampliega’s story is one of effort and perseverance. His legacy of generosity, integrity, and determination inspires us to launch projects like RuralBotic, helping create opportunities through education,” mentioned Mónica Riberas.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony featuring Verónica Pascual, President of ASTI Foundation, who underscored the importance of “fostering technological talent among those who are destined to lead the future of this region and ensure its long-term prosperity.”
Francisco J. Riberas, President of Gestamp Foundation and Executive Chairman of Gestamp, also attended the event and presented one of the awards. During his remarks, he encouraged the children to continue learning and to pursue their full potential. He also highlighted the importance of partnerships like the one between Gestamp Foundation and ASTI Foundation, which make programs like RuralBotic possible by fostering technological vocations from an early age.
