InITIATIVES
Gestaskills
GestaSkills is a social initiative focused on educational innovation, promoted by the Gestamp Foundation in collaboration with the Empieza por Educar Foundation
The initiative was created to address one of the major challenges facing the education system: preventing early school leaving and reducing social and educational inequalities, particularly among young people in vulnerable situations.
Through a collaborative model, GestaSkills aims to:
- Increase students’ motivation and self-esteem by introducing them to role models from real-world business environments.
- Develop cross-cutting skills (soft skills) that are essential for employability, such as teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking and personal initiative.
- Connect theoretical learning with the industrial environment through immersive visits to Gestamp’s production facilities and direct interaction with its professionals.
- Equip teaching staff with innovative educational methodologies, promoting active learning and innovation in the classroom.
GestaSkills has evolved from a model based on guidance and skills development into a broader, more participatory and dynamic format structured around three strategic areas of action:
- Career guidance workshops and corporate volunteering: Gestamp professionals and technicians visit educational centres as volunteers. Through in-person activities, they introduce Basic Vocational Education and Training students to the realities of the workplace, providing mentoring, career guidance and educational tools to help them approach their academic and professional futures with greater confidence.
- Teacher training in educational innovation: Teachers receive specialised support in the use of advanced methodological tools, incorporating approaches such as Design Thinking and the educational application of Artificial Intelligence to enrich classroom activities.
- Meeting points and collective challenges: Practical sessions, visits to production plants—such as Gestamp Toledo—and events including the Basic Vocational Education and Training Olympics, where participating schools work together to solve real technical challenges while recognising and showcasing students’ effort and talent.
